About KST Moschkau GmbH

Company history

KST Moschkau GmbH was founded in 1985 by Udo Moschkau as a partnership. At that time, the focus was on security technology, which included camera surveillance, alarm systems and intercom systems.

After changing its name to today’s KST Moschkau GmbH in 1991, the company moved its headquarters to the industrial park in Kreuzau-Stockheim the following year. Then as now, the location ensured ideal accessibility from the neighboring countries of Belgium and the Netherlands as well as from the nearby cities of Cologne, Bonn and Aachen due to its attractive location in the heart of Europe. The freeway axes north/south and east/west as well as 4 international airports are within easy reach.

The general growth of the company was also accompanied by an expansion of the business areas to include Broadcast & ProAV and Media Technology, which today make up a large part of KST’s field of activity.

Almost every year, but especially in 2010 and 2018, KST was significantly expanded not only with business areas, but also structurally.

The KSTacademy first found its place on the newly created upper floor. Here, weekly training sessions on a wide range of applications and workflows are held, which have been firmly established for years.

In 2018, a prestressed concrete structure (bridging the existing building) above the existing production and storage halls created space for the Innovation Center, which serves as the research, development and demonstration area of KST Moschkau GmbH. The TV production workflow implemented here covers all relevant functional areas of the TV production of the near future. In addition to addressing key topics such as virtuality, automation and IP signal management during development, test productions can also be carried out here in exceptional cases and the new type of studio production workflow can be experienced and advanced.

The broadband mix of business areas, from media technology to broadcast and ProAV, virtuality and automation, comes together in the Innovation Center, where it enables customers to make individual and extremely flexible direct contact with the system solution they have in mind.

Udo Moschkau retired from the family business in 2021 on his 80th birthday. Now the company is already in its third generation and is managed by his son Axel – managing director since 2007 – and his grandson Felix Moschkau.

Company Group

The systems used by KST Moschkau GmbH, some of which were developed in-house, often require special training. Therefore, the management decided in 2010 to create its own training area, for which the existing building was increased by one floor. In order to be able to offer seminar participants adequate and nearby accommodation, the “Hotel Burgholz” was realized as the next member of the corporate group, the groundbreaking ceremony for which took place less than a year later. In 2022, more than ten years after the successful establishment of the hotel, Inge Moschkau retired, shortly after her husband Udo, so that the business is now exclusively in the hands of the next generation.

The increased energy demand by the hotel and also by KST Moschkau GmbH itself, required a fundamental rethinking regarding energy generation after the expansions in the 2010s. In order to be able to act as effectively as possible, but above all sustainably, GEAB GmbH & Co. KG was brought into being.

GEAB, an abbreviation for “Grüne Energie Am Burgholz” (Green Energy at Burgholz) based on the company address, has been operating its own local area network for thermal and electrical, regeneratively generated energy since 2012. On an annual average, GEAB is able to cover the demand of KST Moschkau GmbH, the hotel and also the other buildings of the group of companies almost exclusively by self-generated, environmentally friendly energy. In addition, GEAB has also been offering corresponding charging stations since its entry into electromobility in 2014. In the meantime, the company supplies a noteworthy part of the industrial park with renewable energy and has already realized several similar projects for customers.
